The acute Toxicity of tris(oxiranylmethyl)benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate to Daphnia magna was determined in a semi static 48-hour immobilisation test. The test was conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline 202 and the Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008. This study encompassed 6 treatment groups (5 test item concentrations at nominal 100, 45.5, 20.7, 9.4 and 4.3 mg test item/L and one control) each containing 20 individuals. The immobility of the Daphnia was determined by visual observation after 24 and 48 hours of test duration.The samples collected at test start and after 48 hours were analysed via HPLC method. After 24 hours in the control and in the concentrations of nominal 4.3 and 45.5 mg test item/L no immobilisation of the test animals was observed. At nominal 9.4 and 20.7 mg test item/L, one animal was immobile. At the highest test concentration of nominal 100 mg/L 10 Daphnia were immobile after 24 hours test duration. At the end of the test the toxicity of the test item to Daphnia magna had increased. After 48 hours of exposure one immobile animal was observed in the control. In the lowest test concentration of nominal 4.3 mg/L no immobility was observed. At the concentration of nominal 9.4 mg/L, 4 animals were immobile and 10 animals were immobile at the concentration of nominal 20.7 and 45.5 mg/L. At the highest test item concentration of nominal 100 mg/L all daphnids were dead after 48 h of exposure. The 48-hour NOEC was determined to be 3.74 mg test item/L. The 48-hour LOEC was determined to be 7.86 mg test item/L The 48-hour EC50value was calculated to be 21.7 mg test item/L.
