Additional information

Barium hexaferrite is an inorganic substance. The inorganic substances may not normally degrade biotically and consequently biodegradability testing is not worth doing.

Moreover, in accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, there is no need to investigate further the degradation of the substance and its degradation products. Indeed, barium hexaferrite is highly insoluble in water. Since the substance exists only in crystalline form as solid substance no interaction to suspended solids and sediment and to surface water environment is expected. Due to its high density, barium hexaferrite is expected to be deposited on the ground of environmental waters.
