Additional information

Barium hexaferrite is an inorganic substance. The inorganic substances may not normally degrade biotically and consequently biodegradability testing is not worth doing. Moreover, barium hexaferrite is almost insoluble in water. Since the substance exists only in crystalline form as solid substance no adsorption to surface water, to suspended solids and sediment and to soil is expected. Due to its high density, barium hexaferrite is expected to be deposited only.

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annexes VII and IX, the endpoints related to the biodegradation of the substance in the environment do not need to be investigated.
