Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is completely molten at 160°C

Description of key information

not flammable on ignition

not pyrophoric

not flammable in contact with water

not self-heating

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Not flammable based on the flash point. For solid material the flammability is also assessed based on the flash point because the substance melts at relative low temperatures. Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected. The substance is completely molten at 160 °C and therefore does not need to be considered for classification as self-heating.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification: Based on the flash point the substance is not flammable on ignition. Based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected. The substance is completely molten at 160 °C, therefore the substance does not need to be considered for classification as self-heating substance.
