PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The test substance has been tentatively assigned a classificaitaon for reprotoxicity, class 2. It therefore fulfils the toxicity criterion accoridng to Annex XIII, 1.1.3, REACH.

Log Pow is 4.1 and BCF was estimated < 1000, passing the screening criteria for bioaccumulation. Even though the substance is not readily biodegradable, calculations show a potential for hydrocarbon biodegradation. Volatilisation and atmospheric reactions are expected to be a major pathway of elimination. Hence the substance is not expected to meet P criteria.

In conclusion, Norbornene does not meet either P or B criteria.

Likely routes of exposure:

based on the usage pattern (> 95% used on-site without release to the environment, the reminder used as monomer or intermediate under SCC) significant environmental exposure is not likely
