The toxicity of benoxacor to soil macroorganisms, soil microorganisms and birds was investigated. The 14-day LC50 exceeded 1000 mg/kg dw for earthworm (Eisenia foetida), indicating low toxicity. For soil microorganisms, the toxicity study showed no treatment effect upon short-term respiration or nitrification at the concentration tested. An acute oral toxicity to birds exceeding 2000 mg/kg bw has been reported, for mallard ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) and bobwhite quails (Colinus virginianus), indicating low toxicity.
