Preliminary Test

The mixture turned black in appearance and melted, but there was no ignition. It was therefore considered necessary to perform the full train test.

Main Test
The maximum burning rate for the test substance-cellulose mixtures was 0.30 rnm/sec at 10% test substance, which was the only mixture to support combustion over the required train length. Mixtures containing 50% test substance and above did not ignite. The noted buming rate compares with 0.83 mm/sec for the 60% reference substance mixture.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Remarks:
Not oxidizing
Conclusions:
It was concluded that the substance has no oxidizing properties.

Description of key information

The oxidising properties the test substance were evaluated in a key study (K1, Bates, 2002) according to the EC method A.17 and were found to be negative. The substance is therefore considered to be non oxidizing.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results of the study performed according to the EC method A.17, the test substance should not be classified as oxidizing substance.
