First-aid measures

General information:

In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show safety data sheet if possible).

After inhalation:

In case of accident by inhalation: Remove casualty to fresh air and keep at rest.

In case of lung irritation: Primary treatment using corticoide spray, eg. Auxiloson spray, Pulmicort-dosage-spray. (Auxiloson and Pulmicort are registered trademarks).

In case of allergic symptoms especially in the breathing area, seek medical advice immediately.

After contact with skin:

Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. After contact with skin, wash immediately with: water. In case of skin irritation, seek medical treatment.

After contact with eyes:

In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids apart. Subsequently consult an ophthalmologist.

After ingestion:

Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Immediately get medical attention. Let water be swallowed in little sips (dilution effect).

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:

First aid, decontamination, treatment of symptoms.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Water spray.

Alcohol resistant foam.

Dry extinguishing powder.

The product itself is not combustible. Extinguishing materials should be selected according to the surrounding area.

Unsuitable extinguishing media:

High power water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Can be released in case of fire: Carbon monoxide. Carbon dioxide (CO2).

Advice for firefighters:

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical resistant suit.

Additional information:

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. Do not allow entering drains or surface water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Remove all sources of ignition.

Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with skin, eye and clothing.

Beat down dust with water spray.

See protective measures under point "Handling and storage" and "Exposure controls/personal protection".

Environmental precautions:

Do not empty into drains or the aquatic environment. Prevent spreading over great surfaces (e.g. by damming or installing oil booms).

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Collect mechanically. Avoid generation of dust.

Treat the assimilated material according to the section on waste disposal.

Clean contaminated objects and areas thoroughly observing environmental regulations.

Handling and storage

1) Precautions for safe handling:

Risk management measures: This substance is handled under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with the REACH Regulation, Articles 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates or Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediates, and ECHA guidance on intermediates, version 2, December 2010 (reference: ECHA-2010-G-17-EN). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at the site(s) of manufacture/use.

AVOID ALL CONTACT

Use only in an area with local exhaust ventilation.

Wear suitable protective clothing.

Wash thoroughly after working with this material.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

Usual measures for fire prevention. Product is not dust explosive in its original delivery form. The addition of particulate matter, however, results in a dust explosion risk.

2) Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels:

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Advice on storage compatibility:

Do not store together with: Explosives. Oxidizing solids. Oxidizing liquids. Radioactive substances. Infectious substances.

Further information on storage conditions:

Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Protect against: UV-radiation/sunlight. Keep container dry.

Exposure controls / personal protection

AVOID ALL CONTACT!

Occupational exposure controls:

Use extractor hood (laboratory). Dust should be absorbed by vacuum cleaner immediately at the place it occurs.

Protective and hygiene measures:

Always close containers tightly after the removal of product. Do not eat, drink, smoke or sneeze at the workplace. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.

Respiratory protection:

With correct and proper use, and under strictly controlled conditions, breathing protection is not required.

Hand protection:

Pull-over gloves of rubber. DIN EN 374

NBR (Nitrile rubber). (0.11 mm)

Before using check leak tightness/impermeability. In case of reutilisation, clean gloves before taking off and store in well-aired place.

Eye protection:

Suitable eye protection: Tightly fitting safety glasses. DIN EN 166

Skin protection:

Suitable protection of the body: Protective clothing.

Environmental exposure controls:

No special measures are necessary.

Stability and reactivity

Stability: Stable

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Will not occur.

Conditions to avoid: Keep away from heat. Protect from moisture. Protect from direct sunlight.

Incompatible materials: Oxidizing agents, strong. Reducing agents, strong. Strong alkalis.

Hazardous decomposition products: Can be released in case of fire: Carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon monoxide.

Disposal considerations

Advice on disposal:

Waste disposal according to official state regulations. Consult the local waste disposal expert about waste disposal.
