Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation: Move the casualty to a warm and non-contaminated area and allow to rest. Seek medical advice.

Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water at least 15 minutes. If exposure is severe or irritation or rash develops, seek medical attention.

Eyes: Flush eyes with large volume of water for up to 30 minutes. Seek medical attention.

Ingestion: If ingested seek medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting unless directed by medical personnel.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable Extinguishing media: Water spray; dry powder; carbon dioxide; foam.

Additional precautions: Wear breathing apparatus and protective clothing. Formation of toxic gases is possible during heating or fire. Take care to avoid contamination of watercourses and drains.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatus.

Environmental precautions: Avoid release to the environment. Collect spillage.

Methods for cleaning up: Contain the source of spill if it is safe to do so. Clean up any spills as soon as possible, using an absorbent material to collect it. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Ventilate area.

Handling and storage

Safe handling precautions: Avoid dust generation or accumulation. Use mechanical ventilation to control dust. Do not wear contaminated clothing. Wash prior to eating, drinking, smoking or use of restroom and when leaving work. Do not dispose of material or empty container into the environment. Take precautionary measures against static discharge.

Conditions for safe storage: Avoid dust residues outside the containers. Store at room temperature and protected from excess of humidity and direct light. Store in properly labelled containers.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures

Open handling of powder should be prohibited. All powder handling operations should be performed in a contained manner using a suitably designed and performance verified containment system. Use closed transfer system or ventilated enclosures for dispensing. Mechanical ventilation, general airflow should be directed away from the operator’s breathing zone. Ground all equipment.

2. Organisational protection measures

Use in combination with respiratory protective equipment until containment performance monitoring has verified that the respiratory protective equipment is not required. Access to working areas must be restricted to trained and authorised persons only. The level of protection provided by engineering and other preventive measures should be validated by occupational hygiene monitoring. The facility should be equipped with safety shower and eyewash in area.

3. Hand protection

Handle with gloves. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Use proper glove removal technique (without touching glove's outer surface) to avoid skin contact with this product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices. Wash and dry hands. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. The material, thickness and typical breakthrough times of the gloves must be defined after a workplace risk assessment.

4. Feet protection

5. Body protection

Clean body-covering clothing.

6. Eye protection/Face shield

Use safety glasses and in case of splash risk face shield. Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate standards such as EN 166 (EU). Eye protection must be defined after a workplace risk assessment.

7. Respiratory protection

Where workplace risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are required, conduct an exposure assessment to determine the type and amount of contaminant. The respirator must have an Assigned Protection Factor (APF) adequate to the workplace exposure. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate standards such as CEN (EU).

Stability and reactivity

Stable in use and storage conditions as recommended under the Chapter 'Handling and storage'.

Materials to avoid: Strong oxidizing agents.

Disposal considerations

Dispose of waste product or used containers according to local regulations. Ensure all national/local regulations are observed.
