In the investigation of self-ignition in the Grewer Oven for the pure test item an endothermic process was detected starting at approx. 330 °C. After the test, the test item in the wire basket was black. No self-ignition could be observed up to the maximum oven temperature of 400 °C.

Executive summary:

A study was conducted equivalent to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Part A, A.16 andaccording to VDI 2263, sheet 1.The self-ignition behavior of the test item was determined in the oven according to VDI 2263, sheet 1. For this purpose, the test item was filled in a small wire basket of a volume of 8 cm³ and this wire-basket was placed into the oven. In this oven, the self-ignition behavior of five samples can be determined simultaneously. An additional basket was filled with a reference material (graphite). In the investigation of self-ignition in the Grewer Oven for the pure test item an endothermic process was detected starting at approx. 330 °C. No self-ignition could be observed up to the maximum oven temperature of 400 °C. As the test conditions are quite similar to the method A.1, it was concluded that the results are transferable and no other result would be obtained by a study in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Part A, A.16.
