Description of key information

Solvent Green 28 is highly insoluble in water with a water solubility of lower than 0.003 mg/L (For details see chapter 4.8). The following results provide information on ecotoxicological behavior in the aquatic compartment.

6.1.1 Acute toxicity to fish: No toxic effects against fish were observed under exposure conditions (96 h-LC50 > 100 mg/L). All results are expressed in terms of nominal concentrations.

6.1.3 Acute toxicity to daphnia: No toxic effects on daphnia were observed at a limit test concentration of 10000 mg/L (EC0 (48h) >= 10000 mg/L) under exposure conditions. The results are expressed in terms of nominal concentrations.

6.1.4 Chronic toxicity to daphnia: No adverse effects were observed at the limit of water solubility (21d-NOEC(reproduction): ≥ 1mg/L, 21d-LOEC(reproduction): > 1 mg/L, 21d-NOEC(mortality): ≥ 1 mg/L, 21d-LOEC(mortality): > 1 mg/L). The results are expressed in terms of nominal concentrations.

6.1.5 Toxicity to algae: No toxic effect at against algae at the limit of water solubility under exposure conditions. The results are expressed in terms of nominal concentrations and geometric mean measured values.

6.1.7 Toxicity to microorganisms: Solvent green 28 showed 7.4 % respiration inhibition of activated sludge at the highest test item concentration (10000 mg/L) and an EC50 of higher than 10000 mg/L was determined. Test concentrations are given as nominal concentrations.

All studies were conducted according to national and/or international guidelines. The toxicity studies are classified as acceptable and satisfy the guideline requirements.
