Reference
Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
February 2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with national standard methods
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM E1782-08
Version / remarks:
This test method is neither included into EC Regulation 761/2009, Guideline A.4 Vapour Pressure, nor into OECD Guideline 104 Vapour pressure. Nevertheless, this method was taken because for substances which are thermally unstable and contain impurities it is a more suitable method than the other listed in the above-mentioned guidelines. It is expected that this method will be included into EC Guideline A.4 in the near future. A request for inclusion was sent to the Dutch National Coordinator for EC Test Methods.
A reference substance is measured to validate the test.
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Boiling point of 99.4% ethylene glycol dibenzoate, trade name: EGDB, is measured by means of a DSC test in a pan with a pierced lid at atmospheric pressure.
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
other: ISO 9001
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Key result
Boiling pt.:
365 °C
Atm. press.:
1 020 other: mBarA
Conclusions:
The boiling point of EGDB (CAS 94-49-5) is 365°C.
Executive summary:

The boiling point of EGDB (CAS 94-49-5) is 365°C.
