Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Weight of evidence approach

In a weight of evidence approach the study and literature values were evaluated.

A study was conducted (BASF AG, 2002) according to DIN EN 22719 / ISO 2719, ISO 17025 compliant, to determine the flash point of the test item. Using the closed cup method according to Pensky-Martens the flash point was determined to be 112.5 °C at 1013.25 hPa.

In addition a literature review was conducted. The Hommel Handbook of dangerous goods (Hommel, 2014) report the flash point to be 112.5 °C at 1013.25 hPa. Furthermore the Handbook of Fillers, Extenders, and Diluents (2nd Edition) (Knovel, 2014a) reports the flash point to be 112.78 °C at 1013.25 hPa under closed cup conditions. The Handbook of Paint and Coating Raw Materials, Volumes 1-2 (2nd Edition) (Knovel, 2014b) reports the flash point to be 115 °C at 1013.25 hPa under closed cup conditions.

The literature values support the study result. Consequently, the flash point of 112.5 °C at 1013.25 hPa as determined in the key study was chosen as key value for chemical safety assessment.
