key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Purity: >90%
Batch: 900150909STG115
Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
Analysis of the fresh test preparations was carried out at 0 and 72 hours. Analysis of the old test preparations was carried out at 24 and 96 hours.
Vehicle:
yes
Remarks:
dimethylformamide
Details on test solutions:
A solvent stock solution was prepared by dissolving a nominal amount of test item (100 mg) in a final volume of 10 mL of dimethylformamide. An aliquot (2.0 mL) of the stock solution was dispersed in 20 liters of test water with the aid of propeller stirring for 30 minutes to give the
1.0 mg/L test concentration.

The test item preparations were observed to be a slightly hazy dispersions throughout the test.
Test organisms (species):
Oncorhynchus mykiss (previous name: Salmo gairdneri)
Details on test organisms:
Fish were obtained from Brow Well Fisheries Limited, Hebden, near Skipton, Yorkshire, UK and maintained in house since 18 February 2016.
Test type:
semi-static
Water media type:
freshwater
Limit test:
yes
Total exposure duration:
96 h
Hardness:
Laboratory tap water was dechlorinated by passage through an activated carbon filter (Purite Series 500) and partly softened (Elga Nimbus 1248D Duplex Water Softener) giving water with a total hardness of approximately 140 mg/L as CaCO3
Test temperature:
13-14 deg C
pH:
7.4-8.0
Dissolved oxygen:
11.6-9.1 mgO2/L
Reference substance (positive control):
no
Key result
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
EC50
Effect conc.:
> 0.15 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
meas. (geom. mean)
Conc. based on:
test mat. (total fraction)
Basis for effect:
mortality

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The exposure of O. mykiss to the test item at a concentration of 0.15mg/L showed no effects. As the tested concentraion is above the water solubility of the substance and no effects were seen, the substance is not considered acutely toxic.
Executive summary:

The substance was tested following the methods outline in the OECD 203 guideline. The test was conducted to GLP standards and fulfilled the validity criteria. The exposure of O. mykiss to the test item at a concentration of 0.15mg/L showed no effects. As the tested concentraion is above the water solubility of the substance and no effects were seen, the substance is not considered acutely toxic.
