Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General advice: When symptoms persist or in all cases of doubt seek medical advice.
Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Symptoms may be delayed. Call a physician immediately.
Skin contact: Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.
Eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical advice.
Ingestion: Call a physician or poison control centre immediately. If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Symptoms: The thermal decomposition vapours of fluorinated polymers may cause polymer fume fever with flu-like symptoms in humans, especially when smoking contaminated tobacco., Repeated episodes of polymer fume fever may result in persistent lung effects.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media: Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Specific hazards during firefighting:
The product itself does not burn. Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions. Hazardous combustion products:
: Hydrogen fluoride
: Carbon dioxide (CO2)
: Carbon monoxide
: Other hazardous decomposition products may be formed.

Advice for firefighters
Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.
Further information: Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions : Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Use personal protective equipment. Ventilate the area.
Environmental precautions : Do not discharge to streams, ponds, lakes or sewers. Avoid subsoil penetration.
All flushing and clean-up residuals should be collected for proper disposal to prevent soil and surface, ground and sewer water contamination.

Methods for cleaning up : Dam up. Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Pick up and transfer to properly labelled containers.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Advice on safe handling : Avoid formation of respirable particles. Do not breathe vapor or mist. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion : To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat. Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating gases and vapours.
Do not spray on a naked flame or any incandescent material.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Requirements for storage areas and containers : Keep tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures : Do not generate respirable particles unless suitable ventilation or respirator are used. Keep spraying pressure below 4.1 bar (410 kPa). Use only in area provided with appropriate exhaust ventilation. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Use appropriate workplace ventilation to remove fumes that may be released on heating.

Eye protection : Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166

Hand protection: Protective gloves complying with EN 374. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time.

: Material: Latex gloves
Break through time: 480 min
Glove thickness: 0.95 mm

: Material: butyl-rubber
Break through time: 480 min
Glove thickness: 35 mm

Skin and body protection : Lightweight protective clothing

Hygiene measures : Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

Respiratory protection
: Provide adequate ventilation. Consult the respirator manufacturer to determine the appropriate type of equipment for a given application. Observe respirator use limitations specified by the manufacturer. Half mask with combination filter A2/P2 (EN 141)

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: Stable under recommended storage conditions.
Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.
Possibility of hazardous reactions: Stable under normal conditions.
Conditions to avoid: To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.
Incompatible materials: no data available
Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon dioxide
Carbon monoxide
Hydrofluoric acid...%
Incompletely burned carbon products
Other hazardous decomposition products may be formed.

Disposal considerations

Product : Dispose of in accordance with local regulations. Dispose of rinse water as waste water.
Contaminated packaging: If recycling is not practicable, dispose of in compliance with local regulations.
