Additional information

Cesium potassium fluoroaluminate is a white powder at room temperature for which no melting was observed up to 400°C (NOTOX BV, 2004a). The density of cesium potassium fluoroaluminate is 2.97 cm/m3 (NOTOX BV, 2004b). The vapour pressure is 0.14 Pa at 20°C (NOTOX BV, 2004c). Testing on partition coefficient, flash point and stability in organic solvents do not need to be performed as the substance is inorganic. The water solubility of cesium potassium fluoroaluminate is 5.99 g/l at 20°C (NOTOX BV, 2004d and 2004e). The surface tension is 72.1 mN/m at 20°C and cesium potassium fluoroaluminate is therefore not considered to be surface active (NOTOX BV, 2004f). The self-ignition temperature of the substance is >400°C (NOTOX BV, 2004g). Cesium potassium fluoroaluminate is not flammable, oxidizing or explosive and does not exhibit water reactivity of pyrophoric properties. Particle size distribution was determined by Laser Diffraction and the D50, D10 and D90 values were determined at 17.65, 2.028 and 67.67 µm, respectively (Chilworth, 2004).
