This method describes the procedure for the determination of the flash point in a closed cup according to ASTM D6450 Standard (Standard Test Method for Flash-Point by Continuously Closed Cup (CCCFP)) in correlation to Pensky-Martens method of inflammable substances. The sample is heated in a cup with a constant, defined rate. The flash point is the lowest temperature, corrected to a barometric pressure of 101.3 kPa, at which application of an electric arc causes the vapour of a test portion to ignite under specified conditions.
