The preliminary study and measurements were performed under atmospheric pressure of 1017 hPa. In order to determine the melting temperature range for PRODUCT P-1401, the preliminary study was carried out in the temperature range: 30.0 °C – 200.0 °C. In the course of the study, darkening of the test item was observed (about 200.0 °C, gradient temperature – 20.0 °C/min). The study was repeated for the three measurement series. Initially at the temperature of 71.4°C the samples started darkening (dark yellow), above 170° C the color of the samples were brown. About 200 °C the structures of the samples were disturbed (the samples shrank) and the gaseous products were observed (some bubbles). The samples were dark brown. No melting point was visually observed up to the end of heating: 400 °C, when the final color was deep brown/graphite. It is suggested that all samples started to decompose about 200.8 °C (gradient temperature: 0.5 °C/min). The accuracy of the apparatus is defined as: up to 250.0 °C is equal to 0.3 °C, 250.0 - 400.0 °C is equal to 0.3 °C - 0.5 °C). In this study, the accuracy of the apparatus was equal to 0.3 °C.

Conclusions:
The decomposition of the test item was observed at a temperature of 200.8 °C and 1017 hPa. No melting temperature was observed up to 400 ºC.
Executive summary:

The determination of the melting point was performed according to the OECD Guideline 201 (GLP study). The capillary tube in heated metal block method and BÜCHI Melting Point M-565 apparatus was used. The decomposition of the test item was observed at a temperature of 200.8 °C and 1017 hPa. No melting temperature was observed up to 400 ºC.
