Description of key information

NOEC (21d) => 360 µg/L (nominal) (Daphnia magna, OECD 211); no adverse effects up to the limit of the water solubility

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A study on the chronic toxicity of the test item towards Daphnia magna was conducted by Muckle (2014). The study was conducted according to GLP and followed OECD guideline 211. Daphnids were exposed for 21 days in a semi-static test system. Test concentrations were prepared with methanol as solvent, since during validation of the analytical method it was detected, that membrane filtration using Teflon filters is not possible because of strong adsorption of the test item onto the membrane filters. Concentrations ranged from 3.4 to 360 µg/L, i.e. below and slightly above the limit of the water solubility. Three times a week medium was renewed. Analytical measurements of the test concentrations were performed. Concentrations were found to be in the range of the nominal concentrations. No adverse effects on reproduction were observed during the test. Thus, there are no effects up to the limit of the water solubility and the NOEC (21d) was determined to be 360 µg/L based on nominal concentrations.
