A single study is available on honey bees by Richards (2006). In this study the 48 h LD0 and LD50 were determined to be 25 ug and > 25 ug active matter per animal, respectively.

There are no further tests availbale on terrestrial toxicity for potassium silicate. However, direct emissions from soluble silicates to the terrestrial compartment are considered negligible. Since silicates are furthermore natural components of soil minerals, such tests would be of limited value. SiO2 makes up 59% of the earth's crust and similar percentages are present in many sediments and soils. The contribution of anthropogenic inputs to the occurrence in the various compartments will be negligible compared to the concentrations contributed to by the natural silica flux.
