Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The registered substance tri(isopropyl)silyl acrylate (TIPSA) will hydrolyse extremely rapidly (see section 5.1.2 of IUCLID) to yield tris(1-methylethyl)silanol (TIPSOH) and acrylic acid (propenoic acid; CAS No. 79-10-7). Exposure in the semi-static and static short-term aquatic toxicity tests will therefore be predominantly to these hydrolysis products.

Tris(1-methylethyl)silanol has a predicted water solubility of 60 mg/l at 20°C and acrylic acid is reported to be miscible in water 25°C (see section 4.8 of IUCLID).

The silanol hydrolysis product (tris(1-methylethyl)silanol) has a predicted log Kow of 3.9 at 20°C.

Acrylic acid has a log Kow value of 0.46 at 25°C (see section 4.7 of IUCLID).

In view of the very rapid hydrolysis of tri(isopropyl)silyl acrylate the PNEC values are calculated for the hydrolysis products tris(1-methylethyl)silanol and acrylic acid. The PNECs for tris(1-methylethyl)silanol are based on the study data summarised in this chapter.

Acrylic acid (propenoic acid; CAS No. 79-10-7) has been the subject of a REACH dissemination report and the PNEC values derived in this report are used in this assessment.
