Description of key information

In an abstract only the examination of probable neurotoxicity of p-cresol was reported:
male and female CD rats received conrn oil solutions with 0, 50. 175, 600 mg/kg bw/day p-cresol by gavage once daily for 13 weeks. Dose-related signs of toxicity and in the high dosed rats neurobehavioral signs of toxicity were reported. The NOAEL is 50 mg/kg bw/day (abstract only, TRL 1986).
