PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Screening criteria

Screening test

Test results / Justification

Ready biodegradability test(s)

Resorcinol diphenyl phosphate was found to be readily biodegradable in a slightly modified closed bottle test (61% degradation in 28 days, see section 4.1.2).

The assessed substance is readily biodegradable indicating that the substance is not a P/vP.

Criteria based on Annex XIII of REACH

There are no appropriate half-life data available for drawing conclusions as to the P / vP properties of the assessed substance.

Conclusion of P / vP assessment

It is concluded that resorcinol diphenyl phosphate is 'Not P and not vP'.

Bioaccumulation assessment

Criteria based on Annex XIII of REACH

Criterion for non-B

Test results / Justification

BCF <= 2000 L/kg

The BCF was determined to be 969 L/kg (see section 4.3.1).

The available BCF data indicate that the assessed substance is not a B.

Conclusion of B / vB assessment

It is concluded that resorcinol diphenyl phosphate is 'Not B and not vB'.

Toxicity assessment

Criteria based on Annex XIII of REACH

Criterion for non-T

Test results / Justification

NOEC >= 0.01 mg/L for marine or freshwater organisms (long-term toxicity)

The lowest toxicity value was a NOEC of 0.021 mg/l in a 21-day Daphnia magna reproduction test (see section 7.1.1).

Substance is not classified as carcinogenic (category 1 or 2), mutagenic (category 1 or 2), or toxic for reproduction (category 1, 2 or 3)

Resorcinol diphenyl phosphate is not classified CMR category 1, 2 or 3 (R45, R46, R49, R60, R61, R62 or R63) according to Directive 67/548/EEC (see section 3 and sections 5.7 - 5.9).

No other evidence of chronic toxicity, as identified by the classifications: T, R48, or Xn, R48 according to Directive 67/548/EEC)

Resorcinol diphenyl phosphate is not classified with regard to chronic toxicity (R48) according to Directive 67/548/EEC (see section 3 and section 5.6).

The available information indicates that the assessed substance is not a T.

Conclusion of T assessment

It is concluded that resorcinol diphenyl phosphate is 'Not T'.

Likely routes of exposure:

PBT/vPvB criteria and justification

The substance cannot be considered to fulfil the criteria for Persistence, Toxicity or Bioaccumulation, as specified in REACH Annex XIII. As such, the substance cannot be considered a PBT or vPvB substance, based on the available data.

PBT/vPvB criteria:             Not classified.

It should be noted that whilst this criteria is applicable to the substance, this overview may be evaluated following further review and additional data becoming available.
