Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Barium diboron tetraoxide is an inorganic substance and therefore the PBT and vPvB criteria outlined under Annex XIII do not technically apply to it according to REACH guidance R.11. However, the following information is presented anyway to demonstrate that barium diboron tetraoxide does not need to be classified as a PBT/vPvB substance:

Persistence

Barium diboron tetraoxide dissociates into its constituent ions in solution and therefore the substance is not considered likely to persist in the environment. Consequently, it is not classified as persistent (P) or very persistent (vP).

Bioaccumulation

The measured log Kow for barium diboron tetraoxide was less than 1 and therefore it is considered to have a low potential for bioaccumulation. As such, barium diboron tetraoxide is not classified as bioaccumulative (B) or very bioaccumulative (vB).

Toxicity

Barium diboron tetraoxide does not meet the criteria for classification as toxic under REACH Annex XIII. It is not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic to reproduction, and no other evidence of significant chronic toxicity exists.
