Description of key information

The test item was tested for its possible toxic effects on the emergence of seedlings and the early stages of growth of three terrestrial plants after a single application. The EC50 and LC50 values for all plants are higher than 100 mg/kg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test item was tested for its possible toxic effects on the emergence of seedlings and the early stages of growth of three terrestrial plants (wheat, mustard, cress) after a single application according to OECD guideline no. 208. The test item was tested up to a maximum concentration of 1000 mg/kg (dry matter of soil). Under the conditions of the test, neither the growth, nor the emergence were inhibited at the EC50/LC50 level, respectively. Growth of cress was inhibited to an extent of 35.1 %, that of wheat was inhibited to an extent of 37.4, and that of mustard to an extent of 49.8 %. Germination rates of cress, wheat and mustard were nearly not affected at the concentration of 100 mg/kg (9.1, 3.1 and -2.6 %), respectively. At 1000 mg/L the germination rate of only wheat was inhibited to an extent of 21.2 %. The highest concentration of 1000 mg/kg exceeds the maximum of concentration given by the test guideline OECD 208 by a factor 10. The EC50 and LC50 values for all plants are higher than 100 mg/kg.
