Additional information

In a dermal photo irritation study five female New Zealand White rabbits were exposed to 0.3 mL of undiluted FCC light cycle oil on two intact areas of the skin for one hour. Concurrent positive (1% 8-MOP) and untreated controls were also applied to two intact areas. After test article or positive control exposure, half of the sites were exposed to UV A light for 4.4 hours and were observed at time points of 30 minutes, 24, 48, and 72 hours after UV A exposure. Irritation and photo irritation were scored using the Draize scoring method. 1% 8-MOP induced an appropriate positive response. It had a photo irritation index of 5.6 and is considered a moderate photo irritant, under the conditions of this study.
