Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Class III combustible liquid. No pyrophoric or water reactive

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

n-Vinylpyrrolidinone is a Class IIIB combustible liquid. It is not pyrophoric or water reactive.

Justification for classification or non-classification

N-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (nVP) is a liquid. As such, the primary value for ease of ignition is the flash point temperature. Based on available test data, nVP has a measured flash point of 95 °C (closed cup) and is, therefore regarded as a Class IIIB combustible liquid. Based on chemical structure and experience in handling, pyrophoricity or water reactivity is not to be expected. Based on this information, B3D does not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC for flammability, pyrophoricity, or water reactivity.
