Cumene hydroperoxide was tested in Salmonella TA 97, TA 98, TA 100, TA 102, TA 1535 and TA 1538 in the standard plate incorporation assay according to Ames and in a liquid incubation method without metabolic activation; the substance was positive in the standard Ames test to the strains TA 102, TA 97, TA 100 and TA 1535 and showed only weak mutagenicity in the liquid incubation test in TA 1537
