Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Eyes: Immediately flush eye(s) with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes, while holding the eyelid(s) open. Beyond flushing, do not attempt to remove material from the eye(s). Contact a physician if irritation persists or later develops.
Inhalation: The substance is not an inhalable hazard, however, remove to fresh air. Dust in throat and nasal passages should clear spontaneously. Contact a physician if irritation persists or later develops.
Skin: Wash with cool water and a pH-neutral soap or mild detergent intended for use on skin.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. If person is conscious, give large quantity of water. Get immediate medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
FeMn slags cause no fire related Hazard. The substance is non combustible; hence no combustion products in a case of a fire are generated. Use extinguishing media appropriate for the surrounding fire. Avoid breathing dust.
Accidental release measures
If material is released or spilled, use dry clean-up methods which do not disperse dust into the air. Avoid actions that cause dust to become airborne. Avoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Scrape up wet material and re-use if not contaminated. If contaminated, in an appropriate container, allow the material to “dry” before disposal.
Waste Disposal Method: Dispose of waste materials only in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Handling and storage
Since the substance is in a glass-like form, use suitable security gloves to avoid cuts or scratches. The material, if stored outdoors or indoors should have sprinkling systems installed to avoid dust generation during processing, handling, and storage. The personal protection and controls identified in Section 8 of the MSDS should be applied as appropriate. Do not store or handle near food and beverages or smoking materials.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Gloves to prevent scratches when handling. The personal protection and controls identified in Section 8 of the MSDS should be applied as appropriate
Stability and reactivity
The material is stable, however avoid contact with incompatible materials such as acids, ammonium salts etc
Disposal considerations
All uncontaminated waste is reused for the production of the material. However, contaminated waste and containers should be disposed of in compliance with applicable federal, state and provincial, local regulations
