Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Fully saturated TEA-Esterquat is readily biodegradable. Therefore simulation testing in water and sediment is not required. However the structurally related source substance partially unsaturated TEA-Esterquat was investigated in an Aerobic Sewage Treatment Simulation Test. The substance proved to be biodegrable by 84.9 % DOC removal average during 23 days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in freshwater:
1.1 d
at the temperature of:
20 °C
Half-life in freshwater sediment:
18 d
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

No experimental data are available for the target substance fully saturated TEA-Esterquat. However, a simulation test was performed with the source substance partially unsaturated TEA-Esterquat. A justification for read-across is attached to Iuclid section 13.

The degradation of TEA-Esterquat partially unsaturated was investigated in a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 303 A (Simulation Test - Aerobic Sewage Treatment. A: Activated Sludge Units). In laboratory waste water treatment plant, the test substance was biodegraded by 84.9% DOC removal on average during 23 d.
