Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For disodium persulfate, no study was available. However, company data on dust explosiveness revealed no such properties for the substance (Support-001-Explosiveness.Degussa, 2001). This was used to support a read-across approach which was applied from the category member diammonium persulfate, as this substance shows similar physico-chemical properties.

Additional information

For disodium persulfate, no study was available. However, company data on dust explosiveness revealed no such properties for the test substance (Degussa, 2001). This was used to support a read-across approach which was applied to assess explosiveness using data from the category member diammonium persulfate (Degussa, 1989) as this substance shows similar physicochemical properties. As diammonium persulfate was determined not explosive, disodium persulfate was considered not explosive as well.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Assessment of explosive properties for disodium persulfate was based on company data and a read across approach from the category member diammonium persulfate, as this substance shows similar physicochemical properties. Based on the results obtained (not explosive, Key-001 and Support-001) as well as on experience in handling and use, disodium persulfate was not classified with respect to explosiveness when taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP), as amended for the fifteenth time in Regulation (EU) No 2020/1182.
