Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No ecotoxicological effect was observed up to the limit of the water solubility of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., branched and linear.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study investigating the short-term toxicity to freshwater fish of Fatty Acids, C16-18 and C-18, unsatd., branched and linear is available. The semi-static short term test with freshwater fish (Leuciscus idus) according to OECD guideline 203 observed no mortality within the tested concentrations. Due to the low water solubility of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., branched and linear the test solutions were prepared as Water Accommodated Fractions (WAF). No mortality up to the limit of the water solubility of the test substance was observed. The LL50 (96h) is > 1000 mg/L and the NOELR ≥ 1000 mg/L (Sewell, 1994).

It can be assumed therefore that the LC50 (96 h) will be higher than the water solubility limit of Fatty Acids, C16-18 and C-18, Unsaturated, Branched and Linear
