Description of key information

LC50 (96h) = 108 mg/L for Danio rerio

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

As there are no data available for alcohol ethoxylate (C18, < 2.5 EO, CAS 9005-00-9) the acute toxicity to fish is assessed on the basis of data from a study with a similar alcohol ethoxylate (C16-18 and C18-unsaturated mixture, CAS 68920-66-1). In the non-GLP study zebrafish (Danio rerio) were exposed to different concentrations of the mixture for 96 hours. The study was conducted according to a method that conforms to the OECD-guideline 203. After 96 h an LC50 value of 108 mg test substance/L (nominal) could be determined (BASF, 2008). This result is supported by a second fish test conducted with rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) as test species (Croda, 1983). The LC50 after 96 hours exposure was > 100 mg/L (nominal).
