Additional information

Irritation to skin was analyzed in a study which was performed according to OECD Guideline 404 (BASF AG, 1992). 0.1 ml of pure substance was applied to clipped skin of 3 white rabbits for 4 h under semiocclusive condition. The resulting scores for erythema and edema were 0 at all observation times. Also, no irritant effects to eye could be detected in a study with 3 rabbits performed according to OECD Guideline 405 (BASF AG; 1992). Slight corneal opacity and iritis was observed after 24 hours of application and conjunctival irritation after 1, 24 and 48 hours, but all signs of irritation (including corneal opacity) were completely reversible within 72 hours of observation.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Due to results obtained in studies performed according to OECD Guidelines 404 and 405, no classification for skin and eye irritation is required.
