A functional group associated with ecotoxicity by a specific mode of action (thiocyanate) is present in both the registration substance and the silanol hydrolysis product, and the effects seen are attributed to this. It is therefore reasonable to conclude that both the parent and hydrolysis product could contribute equivalently to any effects observed.

Data are available for short-term toxicity of the registered substance to fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae.

A 96-hour LC50 value of between 10 and 32 mg/l (18 mg/l as the geometric mean of the concentration range) has been determined for the effects of the test substance on mortality of Danio rerio (tested as Brachydanio rerio).

A 24-hour EC50 value of 29 mg/l has been determined for the effects of the test substance on mobility of Daphnia magna.

A 96-hour EC50 value of 160 mg/l has been determined for the effects of the test substance on growth rate of Desmodesmus subspicatus (tested as Scenedesmus subspicatus) cultures. A NOEC of 32 mg/l has been estimated from the test results.

Data waivers are applicable to long-term data for fish and aquatic invertebrates.
