Additional information

Acute toxicity of triallyl isocyanurate to aquatic organisms was investigated for different trophic levels (algae, invertebrates and fish). No acute toxic effects were observed in the tests with rice fish (Oryzias latipes), Daphnia magna and the alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata which is evidenced by the EC50/LC50 values > 100 mg/L. However, in the test with rice fish, cumulative mortality amounted to 40% after 96 h at the highest test concentration of nominal 100 mg/L (corresponding to measured 95.2 mg/L). Sublethal effects (abnormal or reduced swimming) are also reported for the two highest concentrations. Furthermore, microscopic examination of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata revealed smaller and deformed cells at the highest test concentration of 100 mg/L. The NOEC for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata is reported to be 10 mg/L.

The respiration inhibition test with activated sludge showed no adverse effects up to 1000 mg/L which was the highest concentration tested.
