Description of key information

Four acute toxicity studies with fish are available. In the key studies with Lepomis macrochirus (Schneider, 1979) and rainbow trout (Schneider, 1979)  the LC50 (96 h) values were 44.6 mg/L and 47.3 mg/L respectively,  based on nominal concentrations. Two other studies in rainbow trout (Jonas 1998) and the bluegill (Buzzell 1968) showed higher LC50 values. AS these studies are not available for review, in a worst case assumption the LC50 is set at 44.6 mg/L.

Four acute toxicity studies with fish are available. The key study ( Schneider, 1979) was a static 96 hour study according to

EPA-660/3-75-001with Lepomis macrochirus, where the LC50 was 44.6 mg/L. No analytics were included. The key study (Schneider, 1979) was according to EPA-660/3 -75 -001 with Salmo gairdneri, where the LC50 (96 h) was 47.3 mg/L. The results were confirmed in the supporting study (Jonas, 1998) with Oncorhynchus mykiss, where the LC50 (96 h) was >120 mg/L. The results were confirmed in the supporting study (Buzzell, 1968) with Lepomis macrochirus, where the LC0 (96 h) was shown up to a concentration of 180 mg/L.
