Tin disulfide is not toxic to algae up to
the limit of water solubility.
the GLP Klimisch 1 study from Aniol (2012) the toxicity of tin disulfide
on algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) was tested in a limit test at the
limit of water solubility which was determined for algal medium as 11
µg/L (analytical determination during the test). The test was performed
according to OECD 201 and the validity criteria were met.
test solution was prepared by direct addition of 30.0 mg of the Test
Item to 3 L culture-medium (5 L glass
nominal test concentration of 10.0 mg/L was chosen for practical
reasons, i.e. to ensure sufficient accuracy of the nominal
concentration, which was prepared by direct addition of the test item

test solution was stirred at low speed for 24 h, filtered
(cellulose nitrate filters, 0.1 µm pore size) and transferred into the
test vessels thereafter. The test solution was clear.The

validity criteria were met. No inhibition was observed. Hence, the test
item has no effect on the growth of the test organism under the tested
