Description of key information

A reliable study is available for terpenes and terpenoids, turpentine oil, alpha pinene fraction oligomers. After 72 hours, no effect of the test item on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was observed at 100 mg/L loading rate WAF. The 72-hour EL50 values for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined to be >100 mg/L loading rate WAF and the 72-hour NOELR was estimated to be 100 mg/L loading rate WAF.

Additional information

A GLP-compliant study following OECD guideline 201 and EU Method C.3 was conducted with terpenes and terpenoids, turpentine oil, alpha pinene fraction oligomers.

Due to the low aqueous solubility and complex nature of the test item, for the purposes of the test, the test item was prepared as a Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF). Following a preliminary range-finding test, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was exposed to a WAF of the test item at single nominal loading rate of 100 mg/L (six replicates) for 72 hours, under constant illumination at a temperature of approximately 24 °C. Analytical monitoring of test concentrations was conducted, but as the test item is a UVCB results are expressed as nominal loading rates.

Exposure of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata to the test item gave EL50 values of greater than 100 mg/L loading rate WAF. The No Observed Effect Loading Rate was 100 mg/L loading rate WAF.
