Description of key information

Based on the flash point of 43°C, 5-methylheptan-3-one is classified as flammable.

Additional information

In accordance to the Technical Guidance on Information Requirements / CSA, section 7.1.10, the flammability of liquids is primarily defined by the flash point of the substance. Experience in the handling and use of this substance has given no indication that it has pyrophoric properties or properties associated with flammability on contact with water. The auto-ignition temperature of the substance is 405°C.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the flash point of 43°C, 5-methylheptan-3-one is classified as flammable, i.e. R10 according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Flam. lquid cat. 3 with H226 according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
