Additional information

L-leucine is not applied directly to soil and is not expected to be transferred indirectly to soil via STP sludge (due to its ready biodegradability), nor via aerial depostion (due to its low vapour pressure). Furthermore, the substance has a low tendency to bind to soil and a low potential for bioaccumulation, as can be predicted from its low log Kow value (-1.52).

The combination of a good biodegradability, a low potential to bioaccumulate and a low capacity to bind to soil, in the absence of both direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment indicates that the risk of L-leucine exposure to soil micro- and macroorganisms and plants can reasonably be assumed to be negligible.
