Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Currently, there are no studies available regarding skin sensitization. Nevertheless, there is a reliable study existing, which may serve as read across for this endpoint: (S)-1 -Phenyl-propylamine (CAS 3789-59-1).

The substance (S)-1-phenylpropylamine (CAS 3789-59-1, read across) was tested for its sensitizing effect on the skin of the local lymph node assay based on the OECD method 429 (skin sensitization). The results of this assay indicate that the test article, at the concentrations tested, did not induce a hypersensitivity response according to the criteria used for a positive response. Migrated from Short description of key information:
(S)-1 -Phenyl-propylamine (CAS 3789-59-1, read across) was not sensitizing in the LLNA (OECD 429). [Calvert Preclinical Services, 2001]

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data for (S)-1 -Phenyl-propylamine (CAS 3789-59-1, read across), (R)-1-Phenyl-propylamine is not subject to C&L according to Regulation 1272/2008/EC and Directive 67/548/EEC. There is no information given, that (R)-1-Phenyl-propylamine is a sensitizer of the respiratory tract.
