Description of key information

The water solubility was estimated by QSAR, since the analytical method in the GLP compliant determination of water solubility was unable to measure dissolved concentrations of ethylhexyltriazone. The substance ethylhexytriazone was found to be insoluble in water.

The experimental method to determine the water solubuility of Ethylhexyltriazine was unable to measure the extremely low concentrations in solution, and the "less than" solubility returned is not fit for the purposes of risk assessment. Therefore a QSAR method was applied. From the full assessment presented in the Chemical Safety Report it is clear that WSKOWWIN, which bases the assessment of water solubility on Log10KOW, can be expected to have a lower predictive capacity than WATERNT, because the range of Log10KOW values in the training set was limited to 8.27. Since the WATERNT method is based upon fragment constants and includes a substance with a solubility below that predicted for Ethylhexyltriazone, this solubility value (8.2E-7 mg/l) is proposed for risk assessment purposes
