In a valid in-vivo study Vorprodukt Katalysator WAZ 5596 B (CAS n° 1541-66-8) was strong irritant/corrosive to the skin. Necrotic changes were seen in one animal. In all animals scab buidling after 14 days (erytema score = 4) was evident.
In a valid in-vivo study Vorprodukt Katalysator WAZ 5596 B (CAS n° 1541-66-8) was not irritating to the eye. Cornea, iris, conjunctiva (erythema and chemosis) were scored according to Draize at 24, 48 and 72 hours. Mean values (24, 48 and 72 h) for cornea score = 0, iris score = 0, conjuctivae score = 0.56 and chemosis score = 0.

Justification for classification or non-classification
Due to the results of the key study for skin irritation/corrosion R34 (corrosive, causes burns) is justified.
