Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Eye contact: Wash with plenty of running water for at least 15 minutes, keeping eyelids open. Seek medical advice.

Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash the affected part with soap and water

Ingestion: If the victim feels unwell and is conscious, give him plenty of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice.

Inhalation: If breathing is difficult, keep the victim warm in a well-ventilated area. Seek medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Fine water spray, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide

UNSUITABLE extinguishing media: No unsuitable extinguishing media are known

In the event of fire, toxic fumes containing hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid and carbon monoxides may be released

Technical protection advice: Cool the exposed containers by dousing them with fine water spray

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear boots, gloves, suits, eyes and face protection, suitable breathing apparatus compliant with the relative UNI standards for Italy and EN standards for Europe. Use the equipment indicated and take all appropriate precautions on the basis of the information contained in the dossier.

Accidental release measures

Protective equipment for non-emergency personnel

The materials constituting the protective equipment must be compliant to UNI standards for Italy and EN standards for Europe

- Eyes: Safety glasses

- Skin: Clothing resistant to chemical agents and heat, gloves and boots

- Respiratory tract: Full-face mask with built-in respirator

Ensure adequate ventilation of the area, evacuate the area by removing people without protective equipment, and if necessary, call an expert.

Protective equipment for emergency responders

The materials constituting the protective equipment must be compliant to UNI standards for Italy and EN standards for Europe

- Eyes: Full-face mask connected to self-contained breathing apparatus

- Skin: Wear full body protective suits, gloves and boots

- Respiratory tract: Self-contained breathing apparatus

In the event of accidental release or leakage, prevent the substance from reaching surface, subterranean water or the sewage system.

Contain and absorb the spilled liquid with inert material and use neutralising means

Mechanically collect the contaminated material and place it in specific clean labelled containers to be sent for disposal. Wash the contaminated area with plenty of water before allowing access.

Handling and storage

Handle away from flames and sparks

Handle in a ventilated area

Avoid contact with incompatible materials/substances

Wear appropriate PPE

Keep away from water drainage system

Do not eat, drink or smoke in work areas

Wash hands after use

Remove contaminated clothing and PPE before entering eating areas

How to manage risks associated with:

- explosive atmospheres: Avoid contact with incompatible materials/substances

- corrosive conditions: Avoid direct contact with the skin and eyes, the inhalation of vapours or fumes

- flammability hazards: Keep the substance away from heat sources, sparks, open flames and hot surfaces  and use explosion-proof electrical, lighting and ventilation equipment

- evaporative conditions: Keep containers tightly closed

- potential ignition sources: Sparks, open flames and non-explosion proof electrical equipment

How to control the effects of:

- weather conditions: N.A.

- ambient pressure: N.A.

- temperature: Keep in cool, well-ventilated environments, protect containers from sources of heat

- sunlight: Avoid direct sunlight

- humidity: Keep in dry environments

Exposure controls / personal protection

The choice of appropriate engineering controls must be based on risk assessments performed by the employer in his modus operandi (use of the substance) in the event there is not a single and standardised exposure scenario illustrated in the REACH registration file.

Eye/face protection: Safety glasses according to standard EN 166; face-shield

Hand protection: Gloves resistant to chemical products according to standard EN 374, parts 1, 2 and 3 and Community directive 89/89/EEC for the substances classified. The material of the gloves must be waterproof and stable for contact with the substance.

Choose the material of the gloves on the basis of the breakthrough time, rates of permeation and degradation. The choice of suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on other quality characteristics that may vary from one manufacturer to another.

Respiratory protection: If the risk assessment envisages the need for self-contained breathing apparatus, use respirators tested and approved by competent certifying bodies, such as NIOSH (USA) and CEN (EU).

For short and minimum exposure, use a full-face mask (EN 136) with built-in respirator; for more intense and long-lasting exposure, wear selfcontained breathing apparatus.

Stability and reactivity

The substance is stable in normal temperature and pressure conditions and if stored in closed containers in a cool, ventilated area.

Disposal considerations

Sewage disposal is discouraged

Refer to Community/national/local waste disposal regulations.
