Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: If respiratory symptoms develop, remove from exposure area

to fresh air immediately. If breathing is difficult, oxygen

should be administered by qualified personnel. If symptoms

persist, get medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash immediately with large amount of water for at least 15

minutes. Get medical attention immediately.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes promptly. Wash

affected skin with soap or mild detergent and large amounts

of water until no evidence of chemical remains (approx. 15

minutes). If irritation or redness develops, get medical

attention. Wash clothing before reuse.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: If swallowed and symptoms develop, get medical attention.

If vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to prevent

aspiration.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry chemicals, carbon dioxide, water spray and sulfur

dioxide.

Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxides, carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus with

full facepiece and structural firefighters protective

clothing will provide limited protection.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Keep unnecessary people away; isolate hazard area and deny

entry. Wear protective equipment. Stop leak if you can do

without risk. For small spills, absorb with vermiculite or

other noncombustible absorbent material and place into

containers for later disposal. For large spills, dike far

ahead of liquid spill for later disposal.

Handling and storage

Handling: Provide local exhaust ventilation or process enclosure

ventilation to minimize exposure.

If potential for contact with liquid or vapours exists, use

splash proof safety goggles or other appropriate eye

protection. To prevent a skin contact, use impervious gloves

and clothing.

If excessive exposure is possible, use breathing apparatus.

Storage: The substance should be stored at room temperature and in

the original, well sealed containers. Containers should be

secured against falling down. Avoid substance residues

outside the containers.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 205 kg and 45 kg steel drums or 20 kg pails.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls: Use only with adequate ventilation.  Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep worker exposure to airborne contaminants below any recommended or statutory limits.  The engineering controls also need to keep gas, vapor or dust concentrations below any lower explosive limits.  Use explosion-proof ventilation equipment.

Individual protection measures

Hygiene measures: Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling chemical products, before

eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the end of the working period.

Appropriate techniques should be used to remove potentially contaminated clothing.

Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.  Wash

contaminated clothing before reusing.  Ensure that eyewash stations and safety

showers are close to the workstation location.

Eye/face protection: Safety eyewear complying with an approved standard should be used when a risk

assessment indicates this is necessary to avoid exposure to liquid splashes, mists or

dusts.

Skin protection

Hand protection: Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard should

be worn at all times when handling chemical products if a risk assessment indicates

this is necessary.

Body protection: Personal protective equipment for the body should be selected based on the task

being performed and the risks involved and should be approved by a specialist

before handling this product.

Other skin protection: Appropriate footwear and any additional skin protection measures should be selected

based on the task being performed and the risks involved and should be approved by

a specialist before handling this product.

Respiratory protection: Use a properly fitted, air-purifying or air-fed respirator complying with an approved

standard if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.  Respirator selection must

be based on known or anticipated exposure levels, the hazards of the product and

the safe working limits of the selected respirator.

Environmental exposure controls:

Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be checked to ensure

they comply with the requirements of environmental protection legislation.  In some

cases, fume scrubbers, filters or engineering modifications to the process equipment

will be necessary to reduce emissions to acceptable levels.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Not known.

Chemical reaction with water: None.

Dust explosion: Not to be expected.

Dust explosion determined by test: N
