Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Basic Red 18:1 Acetate is only stable in presence of significant concentrations of free acetic acid; it cannot be isolated as such. The test substance is an aqueous solution in 15-25 % acetic acid. Basic Red 18:1 Acetate has a very high solubility in acetic acid solution.

The substance is stable at high temperatures (dyeing takes place at 96 to 120 °C at pH 3 to 4.5) and acidic and neutral pH as can be seen in the UV/Vis Spectrum at different pH values. At basic pH >10 the chromophore precipitates, from which Basic Red 18:1 Acetate was formed by dissolving in acetic acid.

It is hence considered scientifically unjustified to do an additional study for abiotic degradation of this substance.
