- Executive summary:
No data are available on the toxicity of (Z)-N-Octadecyldocos-13-enamide (CAS No. 10094-45-8) towards aquatic microorganisms. Therefore data from the analogue substance (Z)-N-octadec-9-enylhexadecan-1-amide (oleyl palmitamide, CAS 16260-09-6) were used as read across.
The toxicity of (Z)-N-octadec-9-enylhexadecan-1-amide (oleyl palmitamide, CAS 16260-09-6) to aquatic microorganisms was investigated in one respiration inhibition test according to OECD guideline 209 under GLP conditions (Roulstone, 2012). Predominantly domestic activated sludge was incubated with test item concentrations of 10, 100 and 1000 mg/L. The highest test concentration was prepared in triplicate while the two lower concentrations were single preparations. No statistically significant toxic effects of the test item were shown at all test concentrations employed. Therefore, an EC50 (3 h) > 1000 mg/L and a NOEC≥ 1000 mg/L were assumed.
Furthermore, a ready biodegradability test conducted in accordance to RDA (Repetitive Die Away) test on theanalogous substance CAS No. 13276-08-9, which includes a toxicity control. The results of this test indicate that the test substance is not toxic to the sewage treatment microorganisms at a concentration of 39 mg/L.

Therefore data from the analogue substance (Z)-N-octadec-9-enylhexadecan-1-amide (oleyl palmitamide, CAS 16260-09-6)were used as read across. This read-across is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5 and justified in detail in the overall summary (IUCLID Chapter 6.1) and within the analogue justification attached in IUCLID Section 13.
