- Executive summary:
The toxicity to bacteria of 2-[[2-(Dimethylamino)ethyl]methylamino]ethanol [CAS# 2212-32-0] (identified as Halb-PMDETA in the study report) was investigated according to OECD 209. Activated sludge (mixed population of different micro-organisms) was exposed for 30 minutes to a nominal concentration of 1000 mg/L. Two controls without test substance are included in the test design. 3,5-dichlorophenol was used as a reference substance.
Based on the results of oxygen consumption, the EC50 (30 minutes) for 2-[[2-(Dimethylamino)ethyl]methylamino]ethanol [CAS# 2212-32-0] was estimated to be >1000 mg/L, indicating low toxicity of 2-[[2-(Dimethylamino)ethyl]methylamino]ethanol [CAS# 2212-32-0] to aerobic waste water treatment bacteria.
