Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The chronic toxicity of MBT to aquatic invertebrates (Dapnia magna) was

tested according to OECD TG 211 "Daphnia magna Reproduction test". After 21 days of exposure, an EC50 of 0.33 mg/L and a NOEC of 0.08 mg/L were obtained (MITI, 1999).

Data from MBT.

Data from MBT.

ZMBT is an organic complex with where the relation of Zn to Sulfur bridge is considered to be ionic.

Meanwhile MBT is often found as impurity in ZMBT with variable percentage. The dissolution of MBT determines the hazard profile of ZMBT aqueous solution; and hence a read-across approach from MBT is used to support the risk assessment of ZMBT as a worst-case. The read-across is justified as ZMBT has an ionic structure where MBT is contained. No valid data with ZMBT as test substance are available for the chronic invertebrates toxicity.
